The aim of this course is that on completion Fitness Professionals are able to better understand the factors behind programming.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Select and justify appropriate protocols and monitoring tools such as repetition maximums, heart rate zones and RPE scales.
  • Manipulate training variables using the FITT principle and other programming strategies to support specific goals.
  • Tailor programmes for a range of clients, including sedentary individuals, those returning from injury, trained performers and clients with low-risk health conditions.
  • Select appropriate modes of training and adapt programming to different environments such as gym-based, home-based or outdoor settings.
  • Differentiate between individual and small group programming, balancing personalisation with group dynamics and safety.

Prerequisite:

To achieve REPs Ireland CPD points, REPs Ireland members must have a minimum EQF L3 Fitness Instructor qualification. No prior knowledge of programming is required however, for non-REPs Ireland members, assumed knowledge is that the participant has completed either a group fitness instructor, gym floor instructor or personal trainer qualification.
