Content:
This course is ideal for instructors or personal trainers who are interested in designing exercise programmes for pre and postnatal women. The course is taught through a blended learning which is a mixture of home study and one attendance day. The course is made up of two units which are:
- Unit one – Physical activity, health and nutritional considerations for pre and postnatal clients
- Unit two – Programming safe and effective exercise sessions for pre and postnatal clients
During the course candidates will learn:
- The benefits and barriers/concerns of physical activity for pre and postnatal clients
- The physiological and biomechanical changes that take part during pregnancy and the postnatal period
- The key considerations for pre and post natal clients participating in physical activity
- How to collect information to ensure health and safety when working with a pre or postnatal client
- The role that health care professionals play in supporting pre and postnatal clients
- The nutritional requirements for pre and post natal clients
- How to design an individualised, safe and effective exercise programme for a pre or postnatal client
- How to record an individualised, safe and effective programme for a pre or postnatal client
- Identify and manage specific risks to the pre or postnatal client when participating in physical activity
Prerequisite:
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (or equivalent)
